Call PETA, JLO's on the Loose!!!

Oh My Word! Would you be caught dead in this outfit?
JLo certainly went over the deep in when she put this frumpy getup on. Where's the PETA police when you need them? The material is hideous, not to mention it does nothing for her famous physique. Come one LO, you gotta do better than this!!!

"Star Quality" Spring's New Hot Trend for Lashes

One of Spring's hot trends this year is "Spiky Lashes." Not the old Twiggy, by golly, but a more refined Twiggy. To acheive this look: layer on Mascara at least two coats and just before it dries, squeeze together sections of lashes with tweezers and shape into star points. Just be careful not to poke your eye out! Instant star quality!!!

M.A.C. Cosmetics New Summer Collection 2009

Naked Honey, is the new collection Mac is coming out with this summer and although the summer makeup tends to be predictable year after year, MAC is no exception. Bronze, Copper, and Gold are every beauty girl's signature color in the warm temps; that's what you can expect in this year's MAC collection. It is a beautiful line, but what's most impressive this year is not the makeup per se, but their new skin care line. Honey is used in their makeup and summer skin care line, which Cleopatra used in her baths, which reduces inflammation in the skin and helps reduce the signs of aging. Sounds like my kind if bath. Cleo also used sour milk in her baths; but I haven't talked myself into doing that one, yet!

M.A.C. Eye Makeup For Summer 2009

M.A.C. is releasing three new eye shadow colors for summer 2009. Nothing new or amazing. Just a few hundred more bronzes and golds I can add to my collection. They retail for $14.50 per eyeshadow and are available as a limited edition item. They will be available at M.A.C. stores and counters alike, as well as through their website.

* Creme de Miele - A light yellow-gold with a frosty finish.
*Pollinator - A warm mid-toned peach with red undertones and a pearly finish.
*Buckwheat - A deep colored, warm-toned brown with a pearlized finish.
Photobucket
M.A.C. Lipglass Colors For Summer 2009
Lipglass is probably one of the M.A.C. products with the largest following. Wearers either love or hate the thick, gooey gloss that, if applied heavily enough, would literally drip from the lips. (I hate it, but if it looks good I'll wear it). For summer 2009, M.A.C. has created a trio of summery Lipglass shades that combine three colors within each shade.
*She's A Star - Light-colored lipglass suitable for a touch of shine or nude lip.
*Queen B - An apricot color with pearl finish that is great for warmer skin tones
*Buzz - A rich, pearlized copper-brown for a more dramatic glossy finish
Photobucket
Their summer skin collection is what I look foward to trying. In addition to the two honey-based body washes, and the two summer fragrances, M.A.C. has created an all-purpose skin salve that can be used everywhere on the body. Wonderfully hydrating for lips, it also can be used to soften cuticles, or keep the heels of your feet from looking and feeling dry and cracked.
The 2009 summer Naked Honey collection from M.A.C. will be released in North America on June 11, 2009 and internationally in July. Hello, for me summer begins in MAY!!!! I must have it now!

Celebs Photoshopped!!!

Who would've thought that Ms. Kim K could be photoshopped. Come on ladies! Ms. Booty has lots of Booty and when you have lots of booty, lots of cellulite comes with it... It's just amazing to me why editors have to correct images to sell magazines. In our fantasy laden world, reality has gone by the wayside; but when you look in the mirror...reality kicks you right in your face!!! Not to mention your ass. We shouldn't be critical of ourselves because of these fake images we see. It's good that we get to see these images....these stars aren't perfect and neither are their bodies. Do you remember Madonna's photo fiasco? Horrible!!! She's one person that needs to be photoshopped! She has definitely lost touch with reality!

AGE Smart---The BEST Anti-Aging for your Skin!!!

I recently discovered something important, but never thought much of it until now. The power of excellent skin care products. Sure, I have my Super products here and there, but it feels great when you can use one skin care line that does all the work! I don't know what it is; the smell, texture, packaging...it's all somewhat harmonious. That's how I feel about this new line: AGE Smart by Dermalogica. "These are the best anti-aging products on the market."
I recently tried samples of the products I'm about to mention, and after one use, I noticed a huge difference in my skin! The overall appearance was brighter, smoother, more refined... It made me feel, for once lately, that I didn't have to jump start my journey towards Botox quite yet.

The first product I used was the Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, $31.50

It's an anti-aging exfoliating cleanser for mature and aging skin. It removes dirt, debris, excess oil and makeup. The lactic acid in it exfoliates away dead skin cells while hydrating and brightening the skin. The rose flower calms sensitivity, while the Vitamin E provides anti-oxidant protection. The cleanser is very gentle, and it minimized my pores substantially.

Photobucket

The second product is the Multivitamin Thermafoliant, $43.20

This exfoliator sloughs away dead skin cells unveiling a smoother complexion. Physical and chemical exfoliants help to boost radiance and soften the skin. The consistency is much finer than an apricot scrub. It left my skin soft and smooth!

Photobucket

Next, I used the Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque, $37.80

This rich mask is for dull and dry skin. It contains Vitamins A, C, E,F and proV B5 which repairs the damaged weak skin leaving your face feeling smooth, bright and toned. It can be added to the daily regimen, or used once a week.

Photobucket

Follow up with Dynamic Skin Care Recovery w/ SPF 30, $54.00

This hydrating moisturizer with SPF 30 contains all the ingredients needed to keep skin firm, supple and hydrated while protecting it from harmful UVA and UVB rays. This lightweight moisturizer/sunscreen duo is perfect to wear under makeup. You get the beauty and protection all in one!

Photobucket

Last but certainly not least, The Renewal Lip Complex, $22.00

This is my favorite product! Anything that keeps my lips moist and firm tops my list.
It restores chapped, rough, and aging lips leaving them soft and supple. It contains Lysine Polypeptide which prevents stiff unhealthy collagen. Cocoa butter, avocado oil, rice bran oil, wheat germ oil, and shea butter supply nourishing vitamins and rich moisture for fuller lips. Lastly the hylaronic acid leaves lips hydrated---which is what makes lips look younger!

Photobucket

If you're worried about spending too much on one or more products without trying them, no problem, you can purchase AGE Smart Starter Kit. This kit includes the Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, Multivitamin Thermofoliant, Antioxidant Hydramist, Map-15 regenerator, Dynamic Skin Recovery, and Renewal Lip Complex(sample size), all in travel sized bottles perfect for previewing this line.

Brown Spots!!!

Brown spots, sun spots, and age spots all affect our appearance in one way or another. They are caused by the sun, and some are hormonal (during pregnancy), but mostly from the sun. They occur on the back of the hands, forearms, shoulders, face and forehead. To prevent these spots, it's always recommended to wear sunscreen before going outside, everyday! However, if you already have them there are a few things you can do to minimize them or get rid of them, but that also depends on how much your willing to spend!!! Ah the clencher!

Here it is:

Bleaching creams and lotions will minimize brown spots by fading them. These can be found almost anywhere, from Walgreens to Sephora. Just make sure you read the labels carefully!

You can also try chemical peels which are very drying, but it does remove layers of damaged skin. These are pricing out anywhere between $45-$85. Microdermabrasion is also good, but it is more useful if you're trying to get an overall eveness to your skin. This sloughs off dead skin and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, $105 per session

The most effective way though is through Laser Therapy(Aura Laser). These treatments can run anywhere from $300-$1500 per session. It does work. I've seen before and after treatments on real patients. It's definitely worth the money if you're willing to spend it!

Bikini Countdown: Next 5 steps

Here are the next five steps in my Bikini Countdown List...

6. Six small meals a day including snacks(that is breakfast, lunch and dinner) plus three.

*Do not skip meals, as you will make up the calories by eating junk later...
*Do not binge eat...Pack healthy snacks in order to avoid bad food temptations...ie., Fast food, hoho's, fudge brownie smothered in whip cream and chocolate sauce! Oh sorry, gotta little carried away there...ok where was I oh yes, healthy food....

7. For muscle tone(which is what BURNS fat) you need at least 20 minutes of strength training, three times a week. You don't have to go to the gym to achieve this. You can do crunches, push-ups, lunges, squats at home, or on a fabulous yacht like my friend overseas Mrs. Maria Cristina...
*A few dumbells and an exercise ball is all you need to start toning up.

8. Drink 8 glasses or 4-16oz water bottles of water a day...Whichever way is easier for you to process. This will help flush out those cellulite toxins from our body!

9. Write down your progress. I hate doing this because it makes me realize how much crap I'm eating, but then I can always refer back to it when I don't know where the extra weight came from.

10. Number 10 is 12. Keep this up for 12 weeks... What if you don't have 12 weeks?

I'll fill you in next week on how to lose stubborn pounds in a flash!

My SuperSoft Faves Countdown!

These are my all time favorite products!!! If you've used them let me know what you think, and if not let me know your favorites. I will feature a beauty reader's fave page!

10. Loreal Makeup Remover, $6.59

This is a refreshing eye makeup remover! It removes eyeliner and mascara without irritation, and it's very cheeaap:)

9. GHD Shining Syrum for Dry and Frizzy Hair, $25.00

This is a great shine syrum you apply to your hair after styling. It's also a shine enhancer with UVB protection.

Photobucket

8. Khiel's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, $34.50

This is a alcohol-free toner that soothes and tones normal, oily and acne prone skin. It also relieves any redness you may experience. It's funny looking too...It's looks like seaweed floating in the bottle...

Photobucket

7. Clinique 7 Day Scrub, $17.50

This is a great exfoliator! You've probably remembered me mention it once or twice. I think it has the perfect consistency, and it leaves your skin smooth and soft.

Photobucket

6. Frederick Fekkai Technician Shampoo & Conditioner, $23.00+

I love this shampoo and conditioner. I'm a product junkie and I'm always on the lookout for the next best thing, and when I try new shampoos they always seem to leave my hair dry and dull. Suits me for cheating... I loooooove these because they leave my hair shiny and soft, yummylicious!!!

Photobucket

5. Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy Original Moisturizing Lotion, $8-10

This is a great lotion! It's preferred by dermatologists, its very moisturizing, it's fragrance free and it won't clog pores. It leaves hands a little oily, but hey it does the job!

4. Philosophy's Purity Face Wash, $10-32.00

My favorite face wash, and I've tried many! It cleans, it removes and it doesn't leave you're skin feeling dry or tight (I really hate that). It also smells good and comes in a nice sized bottle.

Photobucket

3. Mach 3 Razor, $8-14

This razor is amazing and I've been using it continuously for about 10 years or so. It's a mans razor, but it's the best I've tried. It moves evenly with every curve and leaves your skin soft and bump free.

Photobucket

2. Kinerase Cream, $119

This is a great cream. I first tried it after a microdermabrasion session, and I love it!!!! It's pricey, but oh so posh. It improves the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and it evens the overall tone and color of your skin. However, I'm using their eye cream right now, I don't recommend it. For $65 I thought it should at least make me look younger, but I think they may have filled it with imposter syrum, because it hasn't done anything for me...other than make me wonder!

Photobucket

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!

brrbbrrbrbrbrbbrbrbrbr

brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrb

It's a TIE for 1st!!!

1. Oil of Olay Age Defying Moisturizer, $10.79 & Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, $4.49

I couldn't help but list these two at numero uno. They're my all time favorite and not one day goes by that I don't use either one.

I've been using OO's Moisturizer since I was 15 believe it or not...My friend turned me on to it, and I was immediatley hooked because to me it smells soooo good! They must put chocolate in their or something because I'm addicted! Not only does it smell yummylicious, not like candy, but fresh and glamorous...I've slowly crept up the ladder as far as type, but OO's here to stay. I like the age defying because it contains beta hydroxy which softens fine lines and wrinkles, and it works great under makeup..not dry or sticky!

Photobucket

My next love is Vaseline Petro. This little piece of heaven here on earth moisturizes everything. It's kept my lips chapped free for, well at least a good 15 years of my life (I apply it morning and night...and always keep my lips hydrated during the day! In the winter I put it on my face, feet and hands...and during allergy season up my nose. I know that sounds gross, but it works and I'm being honest:)- Well there you have it, my 10 supersoft faves of all time!!! Hope you enjoyed...

Would love to have comments and feedback...What are you wearing?

BIKINI COUNTDOWN!

Bikini season is just around the corner, and I feel the pressure to stop eating these damned miniature easter choclates I thought would be so thoughtful to display on my desk. I received this motivational email from Ujena Swimsuits called 10 steps, by Laura Dayton. I thought this addiction to chocolate had 12 steps??? Anyway, it's really an eye opener and I think I'll try it...besides my thighs aren't getting any thinner just thinking about it! I'll share the first few with you and then update you on the rest through the week... Some are her suggestions and some are mine...Happy fat blasting!

ps. she says its as easy as 1-2-3....

1. Cut out one calorie laden comfort food from your diet: Ice cream, chips, fast food, fries...

2. Replace junk food with healthy alternatives such as veggies, fruit, lean protein...

3. Snack during the day and in between meals with the healthier stuff.

4. Don't fill up your daily calorie intake with sodas or sugary drinks...Instead opt for water...

The colder the better, that way your body has to constantly use energy and burn calories to keep a steady body temperature.

5. FIVE is the number of times you should be physically active, and no I don't mean the calories you burn walking from the couch to the refrigerator and back! At least 30 minutes of heart pumping love, or treadmill activity...you pick. There are many activities we can do to burn calories, just make sure what you do is legal and you're getting your heart rate up.

Ok tune in for tomorrow...The next five breakthrough tips on how to get thin, or you can just take the barbie drug!!! lol Just kidding my fellow Parisian, I'm not encouraging it really! (inside joke)

Natasha Richardson will be missed!

Tony Winning actress, Natasha Richardson, died yesterday afternoon in a New York hospital after suffering a severe head injury during a skiing lesson in Canada.
The family has not confirmed the cause of the brain injury. Reports say she was "talking dead" immediately after the fall. Talking dead is a term physicians use when symptoms of brain injury do not occur until an hour or so later. This would explain why after her fall she was talking, laughing, joking and then started complaining of a headache and was nauseous.

I will remember her most from the Parent Trap. I thought she was so classy and graceful in that movie, and in the public eye. How sad! It just reminds us how precious life is and how mortal we are. She will be greatly missed. Here is the released statement from the family...

Alan Nierob, the Los Angeles-based publicist for Richardson's husband Liam Neeson, confirmed her death in a written statement.

"Liam Neeson, his sons (Micheal and Daniel), and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha," the statement said. "They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."

Barbie Tan???

I read an article in one of my fitness magazines about a new drug called Melanotan II, or the Barbie Tan. Get this, it's an injection that makes you "tan"(no more tanning beds or spray tans), decreases your apetite, and raises sexual libido! Everyone is aware of the harmful risks tanning beds and outside UV exposure cause. So tan hungry scientists invented a drug where you could be tan without having to go outiside and risk the chance of getting cancer, or even worse wrinkles! What they discovered to their surprise is it greatly reduced appetites on test subjects and they became sexually aroused. Wow, a drug that can get you tan, skinny, and horny all in one stab! Wait now! Sound to good to be true? Well for me, the inconvenience outweighs the benefit. Sigma-Aldrich the supply house for the drug, is closely regulated in the US and it offers this premium drug, you got it, at a premium price. The Barbie Drug is available for $113 per mg (and we're talking about a DAILY injection people).

*Chinese manufacturers tried mixing the chemicals using cheaper materials, causing many reported cases of poisoining, even deaths!
However, testers have reported great results with minor side effects, and have decreased their daily dosage to only twice a week. I couldn't imagine sticking myself with a needle daily, twice a week, or at all for a tan! It's ridiculous the things people come up with. That's advancement in medicine for ya!

What does this say to our kids...Don't stick yourself with "that" drug, stick yourself with "this" drug! OK. To those of you who are insanely rich or just insane and would like to use this drug, please educate yourselves in the use and risks before that first injection. Would be a shame to see scrawny, orange, horny people running around! For more info check out melanotan.org

Smoking Bod of the Week!

It's Jennifer Aniston! How my body aspires to look..lean, mean and "toned" like hers. I know, she's been all over the press lately for her body, but I didn't want to talk about it then, I want to talk about it now! Now that spring is literally around the corner, I feel the urge to complain. She's 40 years old and has a smoking bod, thanks to none other than celebrity trainer and former actress (you might remember her as Paulie on Teen Witch), Mandy Ingber. The lowdown on Jen's fitness is she runs everyday and does yoga about 3-4 times a week for about 2 hours. Ouch! I tried to emulate what Mandy teaches, it's hard..not to mention boring! So I started running instead! It really has improved my butt and legs, considering my only form of cardio in the past was walking on the treadmill for about a total of 5 minutes. However, I need to step it up if I'm gonna wear a bikini in Vegas! I'd like to borrow Mandy for a month or so if I could Jen!!!

Uncovering a Younger You!

I've discussed in my Cellulite articles the causes, treatments and prevention methods to get beauoootiful skin! Now my last article will discuss how to uncover that skin. Exfoliation is one word I like to use a lot, and that's because it's the easiest and best thing to do for your skin! It not only removes dead skin, but it also signals your body to produce new cells. This will ensure that our skin will have young, hydrated cells.

There are two types of exfoliation: Chemical and mechanical. Chemical involves using topical agents such as alpha and beta hydroxy acids. I was just speaking about this yesterday to my boyfriend's mom. She is in her 50's and has really great skin. She asked me what kind of moisturizer to use. I told her I liked the Oil of Olay Age Defying moisturizer. It's inexpensive and it contains beta hydroxy which can reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Even when I try other products, I always go back to Oil of Olay for its Moisturizers. *It's always good idea not to use more than one beauty product that contain acids in them. It could turn your cells skins over too quickly which can result in red, irritated skin.

The other method, mechanical involves using a loofah, a dry skin brush, or a cleanser that contains abrasive materials such as salt, sugar, jojoba beads, etc...Dry skin brushing is my favorite for the body. You can purchase a dry brush at target, whole foods. or any drugstore. It looks like a horse brush, but with a long handle so you can reach all areas of your body. Also, make sure it has natural bristles. Accrording to Beauty Magazine, it is the best and most effective method for treating skin with cellulite and stretch marks, not to mention it makes your skin sooooo soft.

I recommended that you dry brush your skin daily before you bathe. Sweep the brush once or twice over problem areas (thighs, butt),and once over all areas towards your heart. Finally, complete your beauty brushing with a bath or shower and follow up with a good moisturizer. Your skin should look and feel good in no time!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my Cellulite Remedy series, and I would really love some feedback. If you tried my remedy, did it work for you? Any comments or questions are always encouraged. There you have it beauties, remember to dry brush, exfoliate, moisturize and don't forget the sun screen.

Beauty's Priciest Products!

I was reading the New Beauty magazine the other day and was shocked to read some skin care lines offering products at outrageous prices, but of course there is ALWAYS justification! Read the product overview and then I'll give you their reasoning.

Our first splurge product is this "figure slimming" body cream from Japan. It is an anti-aging cream that contours the body by reducing swelling and bloating intended for either day or night. It also claims to keep the skin smooth, moist and firm. The figure slimming part of this cream is actually a oriental "fungus, " which is said to regulate enzymes and cell membranes.
Lastly, it repairs DNA. Kanebo, the company behind this product, was also the first to use hand-harvested seaweed in their products. Kanebo says, research shows it enhances DNA repair by 60%. Oh, did I mention it also retails at $400.

Photobucket

The second product on our list is Orlane Creme Royale. According to Molly Fiedler, a product developer, "this cream was created for a queen." Its contents include Royal gelee, pure honey, and get this, 24-Karat Gold Extract! These two ingredients were put together because scientists claim they both have intense firming and anti-wrinkle benefits and they also heal and hydrate the skin. The selling point? Well, it's the 24-karat gold after all. This extract is applied topically to the skin, which attracts collagen to it. That's right, wherever you put it, collagen gravitates towards it like a magnet. When this happens it literally picks up sagging skin like a wrestler and holds it there, until either you wash it off or it gets tired. Sorry, ladies for $650 its only temporary. Wrestlers get tired too!

Photobucket

Our last outrageous product tops my list at being the most ridiculous purchase ever, unless someone wants to give one to me for free! May I present La Prarie Cellular Cream Platinum Rare. It is Beauty's most expensive cream per ounce on the market. It's main ingredient Platinum, according to La Prarie, is impervious to time, an excellent hydrator, and "effective" only in large amounts, hence the concentration of it. One cool thing I read about this product though is that it contains antioxidant-rich malachite, a semi-precious stone, that dates back to ancient Egypt...(when the aliens were around). It is said to improve energy flow between epidermal layers. Vitamins will do this for you ladies! Anyway, if you were turned on by this Platinum baby, you're looking at paying $1000 per ounce. Yes american money! How dare they during this economic crisis!

Photobucket

Ok, so the reason these puppies are sooooo expensive has to do with the developers being money hungry parasites. No, I'm teasing, but really..."They" as in whoever made these products, claims their products use peptides and/or amino acids---molecules that "can" doesn't mean they will, send signals to the brain triggering collagen production and cellular regeneration. The ingredients are also limited in quantities and not to mention rare. So there you have it, Beauties most outrageous expenditures!

Cellulite Remedy Part 3--Prevention

You can prevent damage to your cells and connective tissues- which causes cellulite-from occuring in the first place. One of the most destructive effects of internal and environmental damage to our skin are free radicals. Free radicals are rampaging cells that are damaging in many forms! Uv radiation from the sun or tanning beds, pollution, cigarette smoking and the smoke itself, stress/depression, lack of sleep, poor diet and even everyday bodily functions such as breathing are all sources of free radicals.

How can we prevent damage from occuring if we must rely on breathing to survive? Well, there are free radicals we can control such as not smoking and staying out of the sun, but for the others we can't--we fight them! Fight with what? I'm glad you asked, they're called Antioxidants.

Antioxidants are a wide range of naturally occuring substances in our body constantly working to disarm free radicals. Not all are created naturally and; therefore, must be supplemented. What do we supplement with? Injections of course!
No I'm teasing, but I'm glad you're awake!

We supplement with Antioxidant Sources:

*Vitamin C: citrus fruits, goji berries**

Vitamin E: Whole grains breads, grains, and nuts.

Vitamin A:(beta carotene) carrots, and other orange & yellow fruits.

Polyphenols: Green tea(my fav), red and purple grapes, pomegranites.

*Vitamin C can also be applied to the skin; found in creams, etc.,

**Goji berrries, know as are called dimple-free berries, has 500x more Vitamin C than citrus. They originated from Mongolia and Tibet, and can be found online for purchase. They are known as a super antioxidants. In villages, where these berries are found and eaten daily, people have been known to live to 200. Well, not quite 200, but well over 100. So take your vitamins, eat your fruits and veggies, and hold on tight for my next article... Part 2 of Part 3:) Uncovering a Younger You!

Oprah On E! He will hit you again!

From time to time I will add some hollywood gossip to my site or an issue I feel needs to be addressed, because I love it!

My daughter, an aspiring singer, absolutely adores Rihanna and was saddened to hear she had been beaten by another singer she loved as well, Chris Brown. As a parent I had to end the madness! So I told her she's not allowed to listen to either one of them, their music... These girls don't realize how many little girls look up to them! How sad! Love shouldn't hurt and domestic violence is not beautiful! Rihanna is a beautiful girl, and I can't understand why she will allow that freak to hit her again! Oprah says it loud and clear!

Cellulite Remedy Part 2--Nutrients

Cellulite Remedy Part 2

From my last post you discovered damaged blood vessels were the main culprit behind Cellulite. The primary factor that contributes to cellulite is interference with you blood vessels' ability to ciculate nutrients. Nutrients need to travel all the way through the blood vessels in order to reach the skin, the outermost part of our body. When blood vessels are damaged and weak it makes this reach very difficult. Women with cellulite frequently if not most often have spider veins, varicose veins, and are likely to bruise easily and experience discoloration.
A lot of women beleive that weight loss is the answer to cellulite reduction, and in fact; and according to Dr. Murad, dermatologist, he states that cellulite is not a "fat" problem, it is a "dermal" and "cellular" problem.
So in order to heal cellulite, the connective tissues have to be addressed, not the fat cells.
What will heal Cellulite, you ask? Nutrients.
Connective tissues in our body is made up of GAG's, which are chonodroitin, dermatian, and one I'm sure you've heard of, hyaluronic acid. Our body produces these nutrients through a nutrient called glucosamine. However, our body doesn't produce enough of it to replenish the conncective tissues. In other words, our saving grace cannot come from food alone, but from Vitamins. In order to put this cellulite to bed, we need at least 1000-2000mg of glucosamine a day; Amino acids (protein); Lecithin; Essential Fatty Acids (nuts, flaxseeds, walnuts, fish or 1000mg of oil EFA; Vitamins and trace minerals...phew! That's sounds like a lot, but it really isn't considering our goal. It's cheaper than liposuction, which doesn't get rid of cellulite either:(

Ok, here's the breakdown:

DAILY Requirements

1. multivitamin/multimineral---100% Daily Value of all B Complex vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid, and biotin.*

*Choose an iron free mutlivitamin if you are post-menopausal.

2. 1000-2000mg of glucosamine.

3. Amino acids--lean protein.

4. Lecithin is found in the cell walls of our body. So if your walls are weak--if you have cellulite they are, then its energy source is depleted. Soy foods (e.g., tofu), eggs, spinach, lettuce, cauliflower, peanuts and peanut butter, apples, oranges, and potatoes are all sources of lecithin. If you do not regularly eat tofu, eggs, etc., it is important to take a supplement containing soy lecithin.

5. Essential Fatty Acids: Nuts, flaxseeds, seeds, walnuts and fish; or 1000mg EFA oil supplements.

6. Most important: WATER

I hope you benefited from this article! I started taking these supplements and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin already. As always, please consult a physician before taking any supplements.

DRY Shampoo! Product Review

Ok here's the buzz on Dry Shampoo. It's been out for awhile, but if you don't know what it is, let me be the first to educate you. Dry Shampoo is basically a spray or a powder,(I prefer spray), that you apply to the roots of your hair to give it umph! I've tried several over the last year, (including the overrated Baby Powder--doesn't work on me), and I FINALLY found one I like. It's called **OJON Rub-Out Dry Cleanser**
(According to Sephora, it's a dry cleanser that revives, refreshes, and recharges hair and scalp without water. It "erases" impurities, toxins, excess oil, and product build-up. It increases hair volume at the root while treating the hair and scalp. Ideal between washings, as a hair pick-me-up, when you're in a rush, or when you overuse a styling product. The Dry Cleanser leaves hair cleansed, light, luminous, and healthy -looking.) Blah, Blah, Blah..you get it!

**So basically, if you're in a hurry or you don't like shampooing your hair everyday (like me)...then try this product. I like it because it makes my hair feel and smell clean, even when it isn't. How bout them apples! It's avail at Sephora $10-$24.

It's appropriate for all hair types. Oh, and for all you greenies out there and it's eco-friendly. It's smells really good too!

If you have any other products you'd like to rave about, or if there's a different dry shampoo you'd like to mention..please comment me and I will surely "feature" you on my blog!

Cellulite Remedy Part 1

Cellulite is caused primarily by hormones, and estrogen is the main culprit. Or if your mother has it, your more likely to get it, the other culprit: Genetics.
The cause, whether hormonal or genetically, is weakened blood vessels. Okay so, vocab lesson: The epidermis is the top layer of the skin, it contains all the things we love to hate; dry cells, spider veins, CELLULITE, BUT and its a really big BUT; it's also an important defense against damage from the sun's rays and other environmental stresses.

The dermis: Makes up the bulk of our skin. It gives it resiliency; it contains the blood vessels(ha! the culprit)nerves, connective tissue, glands and some other mumbo jumbo.
"A healthy dermis shows up as tight, firm skin." "An unhealthy dermis shows up as wrinkles and sags." See the difference.

To repair cellulite, we need to strengthen and hydrate the cells and connective tissues in our body, (not burn it or suck it out), by feeding them (that's right) the nutrients and water they need to stay healthy! Stay tuned ladies, the best is yet to come....What type of Nutrients you say???

Not surprisingly, makeup artsits' lines carry the best brushes, because makeup artists know first hand what works and what doesn't.

Dry Skin!

Answering your questions:

If you're experiencing dry skin, try exfoliating 2-3 times a week after skin is cleansed with a salt based exfoliator, not sugar. Sugar tends to have pore clogging oils, so stick with a salt base. A good exfoliator is the Clinique 7 day scrub, any of the Oil of Olay or Aveeno scrubs, they're gentle and not abrasive. Follow up with a toner and moisturizer. Your skin should feel heavenly in no time!

Allergy Season

Well, it's officially allergy season! If you are not affected by it, count your lucky stars. Unfortunately, mother nature has me waking up looking like Rocky after a 20 round fight with the Russian, sans the bruising. If you also wake up a little on the puffy side, I have a quick fix solution for you. The night before, take an allergy pill such as Allegra or Claritin. This will help with the swelling. ***Warning***Until manufacturers invent a better smell, I don't suggest slathering your eyes with Preparation H, unless you want to smell like medicated hemorrhoids.
In the morning, the swelling should be subdued; however, I recommend soaking a wash cloth in ice water for a few minutes. Then just apply the wash cloth to your face for about 5 minutes. You should look "really" awake; if not... try the hemorrhoid cream!
Apply skin care products as normal, using a de-puffing eye cream. Also, eyeliner draws extra attention, so I would avoid it on mornings when puffiness is out of hand.

Have a good morning!!!!

FLAKY!!! ugh

Sorry Cargo, but the Texas Big Lash I blogged about last week ended up being a Big Texas Flop. The mascara was great the minute I put it on, but ended up flaking off by mid-day. Lots of black crumbs under the eye is never a good idea, especially when your trying to look cute!

I love this product so much! I put it on myself in the morning, and sometimes in the evening. It contains amino acids, creatine, and caffeine. It pretty much acts as a shrink wrap. My stomach looks tighter; an instant de-puffer! All of their skin care products are Amazing!!!!

Bliss: * Stimulates skin surface for improved firmness and contour.
* Energy releasing amino acids firm and burn with creatine.
* Caffeine stays active for up to 8 hours.

Clinical studies show:

* 50% reported an improvement in tone and contour.
* Testers saw a trimmer waist in just 2 weeks.

Beauty from the Inside Out!

Just because the economy is crunching down on your wallet, doesn't mean you should be crunching down on junk food!
*Fact: People tend to spend less on healthy foods when they're wallets are being challenged. Even if you opt to eat out of boxes or cans, make sure you add some veggies and lean protein to every meal. Not only will you remain healthy, your skin and your waist will thank you for it! ***Also make sure you do at least 30 min of cardio, 3-4 times a week. This has proven to be a life saver for me. I have a sinful sweet tooth, and the girl scout cookies I ate this week didn't help! This didn't make me feel too bad because I've been exercising at least 5-6 times a week. I love to eat, but I don't like gaining weight. Cardio has helped me to transform my body slowly. I've never felt better! Now I just have to give up the sweets!
