Hydroxycut Recall!

I know this story is somewhat old, but I felt the need to feature it on my blog. As some of you know I will be in a fitness competition at the end of this month. Although I have used Hydroxycut in the past, I don't use it anymore. A lot of trainers and nutritionists I've spoke to do not endorse the use or need for energy pills or fat burners. For this reason, now I understand. This is what I found out...

One of the most popular dietary supplement brands used for weight loss, Hydroxycut, has had products linked to liver damage, and as a result, a recall is in full swing.

The Food and Drug Administration has reported 23 instances of serious liver injury that have been linked to the Hydroxycut line. In addition to use for weight loss, the Hydroxycut brand products are often used to boost energy. The FDA reports that last year, there were more than 9 million units of Hydroxycut products sold.

"The FDA urges consumers to discontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue risks. Adverse events are rare, but exist. Consumers should consult a physician or other health care professional if they experience symptoms possibly associated with these products," said Dr. Linda Katz, interim chief medical officer of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

The following items are being voluntarily recalled by Health Sciences Inc. of Oakville, Ontario, and Health Sciences USA Inc. of Blasdell, New York:

  • Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Max Liquid Caplets
  • Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
  • Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
  • Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
  • Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
  • Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed, Hydroxycut 24
  • Hydroxycut Carb Control
  • Hydroxycut Natural

I'm sure there's more of this to come with other supplements geared towards fat burning and super energizing.

It is amazing how many people may have been affected by this. Tons of people seem to have been taking it.

I found some more good information at www.hydroxycutrecallinformation.com.

Thanks.
