ALBA products~ Need a good cleanser?

My skin has been feeling a little dry lately, maybe due to the diet, so I decided to try this cleanser, and I actually like it. It smells good, cleans my skin well, and doesn't dry it out like most cleansers I've tried. Available at Walmart for $11.95, you can't beat the price. They also have a wide array of other products including, but not limited to shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and lip balms.

I think Kim K is a gorgeous girl, but this new hair-do makes her look like a JLO clone and totally takes away from her individuality as well as her face. This color does nothing for her, but make her look blah!!! What do you think ladies?

Miss California

If you didn't see Miss USA last night, the best moment hands down was when Miss California answered her last question given by none other than celebrity gossip queen, Perez Hilton. I'll let you listen for yourself, and it's probably for this answer why she lost the title! I admire her for this, not only for her beauty, but for her honesty!!!

Stunning Brunette Actress Goes Blonde! (not very flattering even for her)

Maybe it's the glasses, but Jessica Alba looks like crap! What is she thinking?! Her beautiful hair is covered by all that strawberry ash!!! Not very many women can make a successful transition from Brunette to Blonde, and Jessica is no exception. This actually reminds me of something pretty funny that happened to me recently. My computer tech guy came in the other day to fix my computer and I told him I had a beauty blog. He said, "Wow awesome! You know what you should blog about?" I'm thinking ok, what could he possible know about beauty!!! Getting a little scared here... I said, "what?" He said, "tell Brunette women to stop going Blonde." Obviously I didn't know what to say, because I had recently lightened my Brunette hair, not to full on Blonde, but I have a few highlights.
I think I was more embarassed than anything and wasn't sure if he even noticed or if he was just giving me a subtle hint! jk He didn't notice; way too clueless! Even so, it made me think, "well if the color is right why not.?!" If you don't look like ASH, like poor Jessie here, I think it's ok. LOL What do you think ladies?

Woman gets burned from dyeing hair!!!

Imagine this happening to you?! Ladies this is why it is so important to do a skin test before dyeing your hair at home. Susan Taylor, a 55-year old British woman suffered extensive burning and scabbing after using a popular at home hair-dye kit.
She was hospitalized and given antihistamines and steroids before the symptoms began to subdue more than a week later.
Taylor, has been dyeing her hair since she was 17, and even used this product, Garnier Nutrisse Kit, before, but has never had anything like this happen to her before.
A spokesman for L'Oréal, the company that owns Garnier, said, "We were very sorry to hear of Mrs. Taylor's recent experience ... Mrs. Taylor's experience shows how important it is to carry out a skin allergy test 48 hours before using the colorant each and every time." How sad!!!!

~Diet Update~

So I feel a little better today, not so hungry but sore! I'm 1/2 a pound less than I was yesterday which brings me less than a pound closer to my goal weight. I can't imagine next month when I get rid of the water weight how much my weight will drastically go down. *Women carry anywhere between 5-10lbs of water weight. However, I know what I've lost is not water weight considering I drink at least a gallon a day. My next feat after I get to my goal weight, is losing body fat! That's the hardest thing to do. I'm slowly working on it, but muscle tone takes time to build, and hopefully soon I'll be in the range of 12-15% body fat. I'm a little more than that now, although I'm getting tested tonight to be sure....scary! My motivator today was the fact I could see my ab muscles poking through...uh oh...I must be doing something right. Honestly I haven't seen them since I was 24. Wasn't even sure they still exsisted..lol. I got a great tip from Karen today, one of my blog readers. She suggested 100% Whole Grain Pretzels from Unique Pretzel Bakery to stave off hunger, and get this they digest as a vegetable...interesting! Thanks Karen...I'll look into that! If you have anymore diet tips that have worked for you, please send them my way!!!

Diets suck! But they're essential~

Ok, so I've been on a diet and fitness program of my own going on 10 days now! Good news is I've lost 5lbs, the bad thing is that I'm dying! I never realized how crappy I ate, until I started eating well. Yesterday I felt good; I had an abundance of energy and today...I've hit rock bottom! I'm eating about 6-7 times a day, and I've gotten to the point where I don't want to eat anymore, but I'm making myself. My motivation is my family and the way my body is looking in the mirror; oh and not to mention Vegas next month and a few competitions I'll be participating in. More on that later! Hopefully my determination will see me through this week!

The Best Concealers

No one likes looking tired, worn out, or like they're carrying a set of baggage under their eyes. But sometimes, in trying to conceal dark undereye circles, people end up drawing more attention to the problem by using too much of a good thing.
When it comes to choosing a concealer, it's important to determine what the primary use of the concealer is. For instance, under the eye, where the skin is thin and soft, using a bulky, dry, heavy concealer is going to magnifiy the problem. Since no one wants to spend hundreds of dollars trying out the latest and greatest makeup products, I've done the work for you. The following concealers are products on which I have come to rely to make my dark under eye circles disappear.

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer- One of the best concealers I have ever worked with is the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. The lightweight texture is perfect for use under the eyes, and when applied with a concealer brush, the application is beautifully flawless. This is one of the best concealers for everyday wear, and also perfect for special occasions, such as weddings, where you want porcelain coverage without anyone knowing your secret.
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat - This concealer is my reliable go-to. It's a light to medium coverage that instantly lightens the area. For the quick touch up, this is the way to go!
Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer - Smashbox is an industry leader when it comes to making products with exceptional wearability. The Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealor is a little thicker than some products, but for people who have exceptionally dark circles, or oily skin, this product works wonders. I highly recommend using a moisturizer or primer underneath this product. Use a brush to apply thin layers instead of one thick layer for the best coverage.
Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Undereye Concealer- There is no denying why this concealer made the list. One of the most popular department store brands of concealers, Lancome has made an exceptional product. As the name informs us, this is waterproof, making the concealer ideal for those who have allergies or wear contacts. The lightweight formula feels a little watery at first, but dries to an exceptional finish that lasts and lasts.
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer- This is one of the few if the only concealer that conceals without the thickness or drying effect. This is my fav!

Beauty and Juvederm!

Juvéderm is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). E news reported recently that you can use Juvederm in lieu of a costly cosmetic procedure. For example, if you wanted fuller cheeks or your nose to be reshaped. Juvederm can do all these things, and the best part is the results last for at least a year! If you've had Botox, Restalyne, or Juvederm tell us about it! What was your experience? Were the results worth the cost? As always you can choose to remain anonymous....:) For more amazing before and after photos, visit www.juvederm.com

Preserve your Blowout!

How do you preserve a blowout? Pretty easy! Here's what to do. Put your hair in a bun before you go to bed; the next morning it should be *voluminous. Then, spray the roots with dry shampoo, and give it a shot of hot air with the blowdryer. If it still needs a pick me up, set it in velcro rollers and blast it with more hot air, follwed by cold air. Voila! Your ready to go, in no time.

*(look on left will probably require really thick hair a rat tail comb and cement).

Get Carrie Underwood's ACM Makeup!

Carrie Underwood arrived at the 44th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards with her makeup done with a classic, subdued glamour.
She chose the eyes to emphasize, and what a smart girl she is, because they look absolutely gorgeous.

To recreate Carrie Underwood's makeup from the ACM awards, start with a soft and subtle, but slightly shimmery eye shadow. Smash Box Eyeshadow in Champagne, works well for almost all skin tones, and should be swept from the lash line up to the brow bone.
To make the eyes pop more than any other feature, use a black eyeliner pencil on both the upper and lower innner rim of the eye. This works anytime you want your eyes to look sharp, colorful and focused.
Along the top lash line, use a black or dark grey liquid eyeliner to create a look that starts out thicker on the outside, disappearing into a thin line on the innner corner of the eye. An angle brush makes this sort of liquid eyeliner application a million times easier. Finish the eyes with two or three thin coats of your favorite mascara, and, add a pair of false eyelashes, just like Carrie Underwood is wearing.
To create the appearance of flawless skin, apply your cream or liquid foundation. Powder foundations are fine, too, but will not provide the same natural finish seen in Carrie Underwood's makeup.
Dust a soft spring color, such as Lorac's Pink just below the apple of the cheek and upward all the way to the temple. Fill in the lip with a nude lip pencil, a lip-toned lipstick, and finish off with a light coat of clear lipgloss or vaseline.

Ok, I'm soooo over this whole bang thing, and now Jlo's sporting the shaggy do. Since Kim K has been banging it, it seems everyone's jumping on the band wagon. Quite honestly, they look too girlish for me, but if done properly "may" look chic. Here is a picture of Kim K which reminded me of being in the fourth grade, when your bangs grow out and you can't see two inches in front of you!

Now I love the winged look which makes Eva Longoria fab. So much more sultry and fresh.

Ladies skip the bang thing! You'll be over it in two seconds when you realize you look adolescent instead of youthful.

Vibrating FAT

The Power Plate is a vibration device that stimulates the body's natural response to vibration. These vibrations transmit waves of energy throughout the body, activating muscle contraction between 25-50 times per second. The benefits to this vibration include: improvement in blood circulation, increased muscle strength, flexibility, and decreased cellulite in addition to many other health benefits. How does it work? Well, the vibration creates instability, which focuses the body to perform reflexive muscle action. I saw the demonstration video and this little baby is amazing. You just have to "stand" on the machine in different positions and that's it! Well, it's not that easy, or everybody would have one; however, at $9250.00 I don't think that will happen anytime soon. I'm pretty biased though when it comes to anything competing with good ol' weight training. I'm curious though as to how well it works. If you're curious as well, fellow Albuquerqians, selected Sports and Wellness locations have the Power Plate. If you've already tried this product, please comment and educate our enquiring minds.

Hair Color Secrets!

"Most women think that drastically changing their hair color, either going much lighter or darker, will make them appear younger, fresher, and renewed," says Louis Licari owner of hair salons in NY and Beverly Hills. "But it doesn't." However, the "right" hair color can take off years.

Young looking hair is seen as vibrant with a lot of color variations that change in the light. As we age, our hair loses its richness and becomes blah! So the key is to focus on "shine," not color. Use a clear glaze for a glossy effect, or a colored one to conceal grays. If you're a dark brunette, stay with rich tones. If you're a warm blonde, keep to golden hues. Playing with a completely different color, your hair will fight it until it completely oxidizes the color turning it a brassy orange(that will make you look well over 200 years old overnight)! So focus on shine, only go a shade or two lighter than your natural, and never go black. That's the worse color for women, (look at this pic of fergie, black hair makes her look old and very blah!) So unless you don't mind looking like Mortitia Adams, stay within the boundaries. *Golden Rule: If you have to put on more makeup to make your new color work, you've picked the wrong shade.
