Look YOUNGER Makeup Tricks!

1.  Give your eyes a lift

Skip the shadow...Dark colors tend to recede eyes making them look smaller and more tired.
Opt instead of a pencil.  That's right!  Line your crease with a pencil slightly darker than you skin tone and blend.  You'll get the illusion of of bigger eyes without the heavy makeup look!

2.  Plump up your lips

A bit of gloss in the center of your cupid's bow gives the appearance of fullness.  Try pinks and soft toffee hues.

3. Make skin glow

Apply a highlighter or luminizer to brow bones and cheeks.  This will make these areas pop!

Your makeup could be aging you... Stay clear from these products!

*Matte lipstick--it accentuates age lines and creates a puckered effect.
* Powder Blush--Rarely delivers a youthful glow, unless it has lots of shimmer.  It also makes
skin look dry... opt for cream blush instead!
*Mascara on lower lashes--tends to cast an unflattering undereye shadows, so skip it!
* Wearing a Heavy eye and lip.  Do one or the other, not both!

Sleeping BEAUTY

Of course we need at least 8 hours of sleep a night, but a few pointers won't hurt to keep you beautiful while you sleep.

Satin pillows work wonders.  Your face won't crease on the pillow, which means less wrinkles.  Also, and this is the MOST important ritual!  Always wash your makeup off of your face before bedtime.  Karen Sinclair Drake, skin care expert and founder of Sophyto Organics says, " For every day you don't remove your makeup before bedtime, you age seven days"...WOW!!!!  Now there's something to sleep on!

Merry Christmas!!!

Winter Vacation: HOT BEACH!

We're all trying to stay warm for the holidays! With that said, a warm, sandy beach is just the cure. In the next couple of weeks my family and I are headed to Cabo San Lucas! The weather there is perfect, palms springish! The only thing is, I have pale skin! The locals and even tourists there look like they tan year round. I don't really care for tanning beds anymore...
Since my mom had a mild case of skin cancer and is never in the sun, put quite the scare in me. I have tanned in beds and did so profusely in my nieve teens.
I will opt for a Mystic Tan. If you've never tried one, you must sometime. They're great to get especially before an event, such as the Holidays or for a vacation. It can be tricky though if this is your first time.
*So I'm going to give you some tips to make your first Mystic Tan experience a great one!

1. The location is key, and I usually go first thing in the morning...Not too many people and you have more time to dry during the day...However, if you don't want people to see you change colors during the day...Go after work or early afternoon as it does take 4 to 6 hours to dry completely.
**My favorite is Solarius (near San Mateo & I-40) Beautiful salon and the staff is excellent.
p.s. they also have killer designer sunglasses...ie., Versace, Dior, Prada, Burberry, and Oliver Peoples to name a few.

2. Scrub your body with an exfoliant before you step into the shower, concentrating on the driest parts(elbows, knees, feet)...Bliss makes great products...but do not use scrubs with mineral oil; mineral oil will leave a film on your skin preventing the Mystic Tan from setting.

3. Next moisturize with a body lotion that again does not contain Mineral oil...

4. Wear loose clothing...this will prevent the Mystic Tan from smearing, allowing it to dry evenly.

5. I have fair skin, but with golden undertones, so I ask for the medium tan. This will get you nice and bronze without looking jaundice.

6. In the dressing room, take all your clothes off. Put on shower cap (take a rubber band to pull back your hair).

7. Next use the lotion provided in the room...You will generously apply this to areas that are the driest...Elbows, Knees, Feet (ankles, in between toes, on and under the nails, on the bottom of feet); Hands...same as feet; collar bone; under arm pits; between arm pit and breast; under breast; in belly button; and believe it or not, in between your butt cheeks...I've experimented many times with Mystic Tan...let me save you the agony of having streak marks in these places!
***I also ask for goggles with straps...I don't like the solution in or around my eyes.

8. Last but not least...Dry off with towel provided. Gently dry, not rub, your skin evenly. Use the wet towel to wipe off bottom of hands and feet...and also in between the fingers and toes.

You'll feel sticky for awhile, but you'll be beautifully tanned for whatever occasion!

P.s. If you have any questions about this process...Leave me a post!

Have a great weekend...

Holiday Trend: RED LIPS

Photobucket

Do: Get the Holiday staple (as seen on Angelina, Beyonce, and Charlize) right by first using a liner that matches your lip color to make sure the shape is flawless, or wear a sheer red gloss.

Don't: Make the rest of your makeup heavy. Focus either on eyes or lips, but never both at the same time. Doing so could make you look costume-y or clownish...

10 minuteTips

Water

Look great from the inside out!

1. Drink a glass of water as soon as you get up in the am.
2. Every morning, fill a 64oz container or larger with water. When you drink all the water in the container, you will have met your daily requirement.
3. Drink water before and after snacks.
4. Add slices of lemon, lime, orange or cucumber to water for a hint of flavor.
5. Enjoy water breaks instead of coffee breaks.
6. Take a water bottle with you at all times, especially on an airplane!
7. Keep water at your desk with you and sip as you work on the computer.
8. Whenever you pass a water fountain, stop and take a drink.
9. Last but certainly not least...At those holiday parties, substitute sparkling water for alcoholic drinks or alternate between them...

BEAUTY TIP OF THE DAY!

Beat the winter blues! Exfoliate your body with a salt or sugar scrub prior to bathing. Think of it as dry brushing, but with cream. It not only softens, but detoxifies your body! BioMedic MircroPeel

The Biomedic Micropeel is used to clarify, improve texture, and makes the skin more uniform in color. It's a 5 step procedure which takes about 45minutes to an hour, and the cost ($75).

I've tried glycolic peels and microdermabrasion, which I love! My esthetician Nicole at the Spa@ WDC recommended that I try the Biomedic Peel. She said the procedure is an improvement on the glycolic peel without any downtime. I tried it...and noticed a slight difference immediately. My skin was softer and it's not dry...which is unusual in the winter. I also liked it because it didn't leave my skin pink or red.

I like it!

This mascara was not so scary after all! It was very easy to use, surprising, I didn't think it was going to be. The consistency and application were good. However, my true test will be whether it smudges or not! Overall, I like the mascara, the packaging is cute... a little pricey though ($27), but afterall, it's Givenchy right? lol

Mascary!!!

So I went to Sephora today... Surprising! I decided to try a new mascara ...Givenchy.
It's a strange little phenom. It looks like a weapon! I guess I'll stick it in my eye. I've literally tried every mascara on the market...so tomorrow I'll let you know how this one works, if I still have my eyeball long enough to blog. The former miss Lancome hypnose will be put on the backburner for a while. I really haven't cared too much for this mascara. I learned it has beeswax in it, which means it coats and sticks to your lashes like, well, wax! Doesn't smudge, thank the Lord, but very hard to take off!
